Sam Chamberlain is Managing Director and co-founder of Boston Harbor Wealth Advisors, affiliated with World Investment Advisors. In more than 17 years as a financial advisor, he has built a practice — and a firm — grounded in one belief: that clients who truly understand their financial picture make better decisions, and that it's the advisor's job to make sure they get there.
Sam began his career in 2008, graduating from Suffolk University directly into the worst financial crisis in a generation. What he encountered in those early years stayed with him. Client after client had been sold products they didn't understand, given advice they couldn't evaluate, or simply never taught the basics of how a financial plan actually works. Sam made it his mission to be the advisor those clients wished they'd had from the start — one who explains the reasoning, challenges the assumptions, and never mistakes a comfortable conversation for a productive one.
That commitment became the foundation of Boston Harbor Wealth Advisors, which Sam co-founded in 2015. Beyond building and managing his own client relationships, Sam played an instrumental role in shaping the firm itself — leading the development of its investment management platform, financial planning process, and advisory standards from the ground up. Those systems have grown and evolved alongside the firm, and while a talented team now helps carry them forward, Sam remains actively involved in refining the process and ensuring every advisor is working from the same playbook. He has been equally hands-on across the operational side of the firm's growth — vetting technology solutions, managing expansions to new locations, and helping onboard both advisors and clients as the practice scaled to $3.5 billion in assets under management.
In 2024, Boston Harbor affiliated with World Investment Advisors, bringing expanded resources and institutional depth to a firm that has never lost the feel of a practice built on personal relationships.
Sam works primarily with successful individuals, families, and business owners who have spent years building wealth and want an advisor who will be direct with them about how to protect and grow it. He is personable and easy to talk to — but don't let that fool you. Sam will tell you what you need to hear, push back when the situation calls for it, and hold both of you accountable to a plan that actually reflects your goals.
He earned his bachelor of science in finance from Suffolk University and lives in Cohasset with his wife Nicole, their three children, and two golden retrievers.
I grew up in Wallingford, Connecticut, but have called the Boston area home since 2004, when I moved here to attend Suffolk University. I had visited Boston with my family as a kid and always felt drawn to it — twenty-plus years later, I can't imagine being anywhere else.
For nine years, I had the privilege of mentoring a young man named Alex through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay. He's a young adult now, which is something I'm genuinely proud of. That experience gave me a perspective on life and on people that I carry with me every day — in how I listen, how I show up, and how I think about what actually matters.
My wife Nicole and I live in Cohasset with our three kids — Parker, Harvey, and Eloise — and our two golden retrievers, Dory and Taffy. If you know Cohasset, you know the harbor has a way of becoming the center of your life, and that's exactly what's happened. Summers mean maintaining lobster traps with my father-in-law, fishing skills to keep honing, and afternoons on the sandbar watching the kids do what kids do best when you put them near salt water.
Vermont is the other anchor. A few years ago I bought my parents' property — an 1840s farmhouse on a good stretch of acreage in rural Vermont. When this bio was first written, Vermont was a place I visited. Now it's a place I steward. Whether it's harvesting firewood, building and maintaining trails we use for ATVs and snowmobiles, or skiing the cross-country and backcountry terrain in the abutting preserve, there's enough land and enough to do to keep me busy and humbled in equal measure. Winter out west still calls — backcountry skiing and snowmobiling are pursuits I take seriously — but Vermont has become its own kind of adventure.
I've been a gear-head my whole life. Growing up it was go-karts, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, then making cars faster and fixing up beat-up trucks. That hasn't changed much — the projects have just gotten more interesting. If I'm not on the water or in the woods, there's a reasonable chance I'm in the garage, deep in a forum thread or a YouTube rabbit hole trying to figure something out.
